We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. The consultation allows you to discuss your expectations and concerns with the orthodontist.
When it comes to assessing a child or adolescent, it is important that a parent or responsible adult is present with him.
This appointment lasts about 45 minutes. It begins with gathering diagnostic information and continues with a clinical exam and treatment explanations.
Diagnostic information and examination
You must complete a medical questionnaire upon arrival. Click on our Medical questionnaire to complete in advance.
A radiograph is necessary to establish an accurate diagnosis. Our office is equipped with a 3D X-ray machine, which greatly enhances the quality and accuracy of the radiograph information.
The orthodontist does a clinical exam of the dentition and facial features. It is possible that photos will taken to facilitate further monitoring.
Explanations and question period
Once the diagnosis establish, the best options are explained and discussed. These recommendations help to prevent problems, to intercept problems or to correct conditions already present.
The orthodontist will take time to answer your questions. The question period is important to understand:
- The treatment options
- The choice of the type of braces or appliances
- How long the treatment will take
- How much the treatment will it cost
- The reasons for not recommending treatment
- The reasons why treatment needs to be delayed
While we can often answer these questions about treatment during the initial examination, we will address specific areas after careful analysis of the diagnostic records. We feel that in-depth planning leads to superior results and higher patient satisfaction.
If you have orthodontic insurance, bring your insurance information on your first visit. We will be able to give you an estimate of the treatment costs.
A report of your visit with the copy of your radiograph will also be forwarded to your family dentist.
We hope to greet you at our office soon!
